The work on the BD632 million ($1.6 billion) revamp of the Northern Road Intersection at Janabiya and Budaiya area in Bahrain is progressing well with about 70 per cent of the project completed.
The project involves transforming the roundabout connecting Budaiya Highway and Janabiya Highway into a traffic signal controlled interchange, adding lanes for side turns along the intersection, constructing part of the road leading to Northern Town, constructing Road 4077, upgrading the storm water drainage network and implementing pedestrian barriers, said a statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Urban Planning.
Once completed, the intersection will contribute to alleviating traffic congestion on roads in the area and will also increase traffic safety levels, stated Raed Al Salah, the director (Roads Projects and Maintenance) at the ministry after inspecting the work at the site.
The project, awarded to Mohsin Haji Ali, is part of the ministry’s plan to improve infrastructure and the roads network in the Kingdom based on international standards.-TradeArabia News Service
