$4.4bn GCC funds spent on projects

MANAMA: Bahrain has spent $4.434 billion of the GCC ‘Marshall Plan’ on the first phase of development projects.

This was revealed yesterday by Deputy Premier and Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

He lauded the co-operation among GCC countries, reflected by the allocation of $10bn by the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to finance development plans in Bahrain over 10 years.

He said that under the plan, the government does not receive money, but the ministerial committee prepares a list of projects, which receive funding from the donors.
