4 held in Bangkok for trading in fake North Korean currency

BANGKOK: — A Bahrain national and three Thais from the South were arrested along with 23.7 million in fake North Korean won banknotes in Bangkok’s Wattana District yesterday afternoon.

Following a tip-off about some fake money being traded in the area, police held a sting operation to buy the banknotes from Bahraini Elyas Ghuloom Mohamed, 54, and the three Thais, namely Maslan Waji, 40; Tamici Doloh, 34; and Yusoh Kadae, 29.

After noticing a pile of the notes in the suspects’ car, police then identified themselves and took the suspects into custody.
