An unidentified group of gunmen shot and killed four young men and wounded another at a bar in Guarulhos in the Sao Paulo metropolitan region, officials said.
The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. at a bar in the Guarulhos neighborhood of Jardim Vila Galvão, the Sao Paulo Security Secretariat said.
According to witnesses, the gunmen arrived at the bar in a black car that stopped at the entrance to the establishment, got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the five men.
The only survivor, identified as Assis Mendes da Costa Junior, 29, was hit by two bullets, one in the chest and the other in a hand, and is now hospitalized.
In Sao Paulo, Brazil’s most heavily populated state, 17 shootings were recorded in 2015 that left 69 dead, according to official figures published last week. EFE
