6 Die in shootings in central Mexico

At least six people died in a wave of shootings over the weekend in Mexico state, which surrounds the Federal District and forms part of the Mexico City metropolitan area, media reports said.

Gunmen opened fire on patrons leaving the Chelitas bar early Sunday, killing three people and leaving a fourth person seriously wounded.

The gunmen left a banner outside the bar with a threatening message signed by the “Empresa de Familia Michoacana,” a reference to the Familia Michoacana drug cartel.

Another group of gunmen went into the El Veracruz bar and killed three patrons. EFE
