A day of pride for school students

ALL students in Bahrain who sat for the Class 10 exams of the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) have passed, it was announced yesterday.

A total of 1,255 children, aged 15 and 16, from six schools sat the exam conducted by New Delhi’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in March.

Students who score 91 to 100 marks in a subject are awarded an A1 grade, which is equal to a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 10 points; 81 to 90 get A2 or nine points; 71 to 80 get B1 or eight points; 61 to 70 get B2 or seven points; 51 to 60 get C1 or six points; 41 to 50 get C2 or five points; 33 to 40 marks get D or four points; 21 to 32 get E1; and 0 to 20 get E2.

THE INDIAN SCHOOL

A total of 772 students sat the exam from the Indian School Bahrain (ISB), of which 73 scored A1 grades in all subjects.

Honorary chairman Prince S Natarajan, principal V R Palaniswamy and executive committee members commended the efforts of the students, staff and parents.

ASIAN SCHOOL

Twelve of 147 Asian School students scored A1 in all subjects.

They are: Anish Varghese, Anjo Bob Anil, Dian Liz Abraham, Harrel Thachil Tomy, Hrushikesh Jeevan Shanware, Karthik Sai Krishnan, Kripa Anne Tharakan, Misbah Khan, Mohammad Fouad Khan, Nikitha Narendra, Sharon Maria Mathew and Vandhana Richa Chacko.

Forty-five students achieved A1 in English, 29 in Social Science, 27 in French, 24 in Science, 19 in Mathematics and two in Hindi.

School chairman Joseph Thomas and principal Molly Mammen expressed appreciation for the commendable performance by the students.

NEW MILLENNIUM SCHOOL DPS

Of the 66 students who appeared for the examination from the New Millennium School, seven students secured A1 in all subjects. They are: Emi Elsa Ivan, Gayatri Sibi, Rosalind Agasti, Simran Kapoor, Shefali Agrawal, Utso Roy and Vrinda Sharma. Twelve students got A1 in Mathematics, 23 in English, 17 in Science , 11 in Social Studies, five in Hindi and seven in French.

School chairman Dr Ravi Pillai, managing director Geetha Ravi Pillai and principal Arun Kuumar Sharma congratulated the students, staff members and parents for their sincere efforts and success.

NEW INDIAN SCHOOL

Eight of the 145 students who sat for the exam from the New Indian School got A1 grade in all subjects.

They are: Olive Rachel Mammen, Jenita Susan Philip, Bharathi Krishna Moorthy, Abhirami Narayanan, Jayson Mathew Thomas, Sowmica M l, Sithara Purushothaman Paikattil and Jasmin Maria Jacob V.

A total of 114 students wrote the CBSE-based exam while 31 wrote the school-based exam. School chairman T T Thomas and director and principal Dr V Gopalan congratulated students and teachers.

AL NOOR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Athira Lal Ajitha and Swathy Sandhya with 9.4 points each came in top at Al Noor International School from the total of 18 students who sat for the examination, while Reshma Mikky Shaji stood second with 9.2 points. School chairman Ali Hassan, principal Rashid Mandi and director Dr Muhammad Mashood congratulated the students on their achievement.

IBN AL HYTHAM ISLAMIC SCHOOL

Two of the 107 students who took the exam from Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School ‘“ Muhammed Hafees and Aswathi Prakash ‘“ got A1 in all subjects.

The school congratulated all students, parents and staff on the results.
