Al-Jishi: Bahrain hosts workshop on women’s economic rights

Cairo, Oct 28 (BNA) – Shura Council Second Deputy Chairman, a member of Arab Parliament’s Social and Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth Committee, Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi, said the Sub-Committee charged with preparing the first workshop on the economic rights of Arab women, to be hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain in November 2013, has completed the final preparation for the workshop program, noting the workshop comes in the context of the arrangements for holding a conference on women’s issues and challenges of time, under the theme (Towards an Arab Document on Women’s Rights), to take place in June of next year.


The Sub-Committee held a three-day intensive meetings in Cairo, on the sidelines of the Arab Parliament’s first session of the second term, to be held tomorrow (Tuesday), to follow up on matters relating to the preparation for a workshop to be hosted by the House of Representatives and Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

She noted that a group of experts in the Legal Affairs and Women’s Affairs will participate in the workshop, in addition to representatives from Arab civil society organizations, Arab League, Arab Women’s Organization, competent institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with an eye to developing an Arab document on women’s rights to unanimously satisfy all parties.
