Al-Khateri crowned champion of HM King Hamad Endurance Race

Manama, Feb. 6 (BNA): Personal Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Honorary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa crowned winners of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Endurance Race Cup for 120 km which was organised by BREEF with the participation of an elite of riders from the royal team, local stables and the UAE.

Rider Fahad Al-Khateri, from Victorious team, clinched first place in the race by clocking 04:10:00 at an average speed of 27 km. Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Himdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum came second in 04:16:02 time and the speed of 28 km. Meanwhile, the Emirati rider Ghanim Saeed Al-Awisi finished the race third by clocking 04:23:00 at a speed of 27 km.

Shaikh Nasser thanked HM the King for patronising the race, lauding the attendance of the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He said HM the King’s patronage of the event served as a stimulus for the riders to show the best of their skills in one of the most important and toughest endurance races of the season. He described holding the race under the auspices of HM the King as a reflection of the unflinching royal support to the endurance sport in Bahrain. He also praised the outstanding organisation of the 120-km race for the junior and senior categories, commending the high level shown by the riders throughout the race. He congratulated the winners, lauding the efforts of all the relevant committees in ensuring success of the event.

On his part, Captain of Al-Khalidiya stables Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised success of the race, asserting that HM the King’s patronage and the attendance of Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had a positive impact on the riders who brought out the best of their skills very competitively.
