Al Wefaq National Islamic Society called on the High Commissioner for Human Rights to help reveal the fate of former MP Sheikh Hasan Isa and to press the Government of Bahrain to release him immediately.
Sheikh Hasan Isa is a prominent Bahraini figure who won the parliamentary elections with the highest percentage of votes in 2010, before the eruption of the pro-democracy protests in 2011.
He has been arrested for over 85 hours now but no information has been made available on his condition. His lawyers were prevented from seeing him or attending his interrogation. The Authorities have not declared the reason of arrest upon his arrival at Bahrain International Airport with his family on August 18.
The continued vagueness that wraps the situation of Sheikh Hasan Isa rises concerns and highlights the difficulty of the situation.
Al Wefaq is demanding his immediate release and is urging all concerned international parties to help reveal his fate.
