Aluminium Bahrain production up 2.9%

ABU DHABI: Aluminium Bahrain said its third-quarter output rose 2.9 percent despite significant drops in London Metal Exchange prices.
The company, which owns one of the largest smelters of the lightweight metal, said third-quarter production stood at 240,351 tons.
Sales also rose to 238,862 tons from 232,922 tons in the same period of 2014, the company said in a bourse statement.
Benchmark London Metal Exchange prices fell to six-year lows toward the end of September, a nearly 20 percent drop from a year earlier.
In June, Alba won government approval for a planned $3.5 billion expansion that will boost its output by more than 50 percent.
The company will release its full third-quarter results on Nov. 11.
