Ambassador Al-Dosari: Bahrain-EU Relation Are Excellent

Brussels, Dec. 14. (BNA) – Bahrain’s relations and cooperation with the European Union (EU) are excellent, Bahraini Ambassador to the European Union (EU) and Belgium Ahmed Mohammed Al-Dusari said.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during a reception he hosted here to mark the National Day of Bahrain and the 13th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne, he affirmed that “Our relations with the EU are excellent and are progressing positively in the right direction,” explaining that the statement of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton on the first anniversary of the issuance of the report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) was “highly positive.”

He added that the European Parliament began to recognize the reality of the situation in Bahrain, noting that European MPs were used to receiving misleading and false information, but now “we provide them with correct information in order to project the real image of Bahrain.”

He also revealed that a delegation from the European Parliament will visit the kingdom in the coming weeks in order to be informed about the reality of the situation.

The envoy also praised the outstanding relations with Belgium, adding a Belgian trade delegation visited the kingdom two weeks ago and held important meetings.

He also expressed hope that dialogue with the “opposition” will be resumed in order to solve “minor issues” and enable Bahrain to restore its position as hub of tourism and investment, adding that the recent edition of the “Manama Dialogue” Forum proved that Bahrain was stable and played a pivotal role in regional security.

On her part, Kuwaiti Ambassador to EU and Belgium and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps here Nabeela Al-Mulla praised the solid fraternal Bahraini-Kuwaiti ties, affirming that Bahrain enjoys a distinguished position in the heart of every Kuwaiti citizen.
