HIS Majesty King Hamad yesterday visited the 3rd Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS 2014), being held at Sakhir Airbase.
He met guests and participants and watched aerobatic displays by Royal Bahrain Air Force.
Other military jets also took part in the aerial displays, including RAF Typhoon, US Air Force F-22 Raptor, UAE F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighter jets.
The King also watched thrilling air shows staged by famous teams, including UAE aerobatic team Al Fursan, Saudi Hawks and Russian Knights.
The British Army Red Devils display team also staged thrilling parachuting shows.
His Majesty commended the outstanding organisation of BIAS, describing the exhibition as an honour for Bahrain.
He singled out particularly His Majesty’s Personal Representative and Supreme Organising Committee chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as committee members, for co-ordinating with aircraft companies and ensuring them all facilities.
He also welcomed guests, senior officials and participants from aircraft companies, who converged on the kingdom to attend the BIAS 2014.
“The global event reflects Bahrain’s outstanding status as a hub for hosting different landmark events and conferences,” he said, stressing Bahrain’s keenness on keeping abreast of latest aerospace and technological strides.
“The massive participation of world-class aircraft companies reflects growing interest in the aerospace industry,” he added.
