Arab Parliament Chairman lauds Bahrain’s support

Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA)—Chairman of the Arab Parliament Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan lauded Bahrain’s support to the parliament’s activities, stressing rejection of the Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain and Arab countries.

In a statement published by Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper today, he reiterated the Arab Parliament’s strong denunciation of Iran’s blatant interference in the Arab countries’ domestic affairs, demanding Tehran to assume its responsibilities towards its neighbours and work on maintaining good relations with the Arab countries.

He also extended thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrain for the initiative of setting up an Arab Human Rights Court, pointing out that a workshop will be held in the UAE on November 27 and 28, with the participation of the Arab Human Rights Committee to map out the basics of the court’s action charter.

He praised the Arab leaders’ coordination with the parliament in setting up the by-law of the court which was approved at the Arab Summit after a proposal by HM King Hamad.

Concerning communication between the Arab Parliament and the Iranian Shura Council, Al-Jarwan stressed that there is no such communication with a country that occupies any Arab land. However, he expressed hope there will be positive communication, pointing out that Iran is a neighbourly country. Yet, when it comes to interfering in the Arab countries’ internal affairs, this is categorically rejected.

He emphasised that the Arab Parliament refuses any communication with Iran until it takes positive steps towards the Arab and GCC countries.
