BACA president granted Arab Woman Award in culture, education

Manama, Dec. 4 (BNA): President of the Bahrain Authority for Antiquities and Culture (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa has been granted the annual Arab Women Award for 2015 for her achievements in culture and education.

Shaikha Mai received the award during a honouring ceremony held in London on Thursday.

BACA president affirmed that the award reflects the confidence conferred by the kingdom’s leadership on Bahraini women, especially regarding the preservation of Bahrain’s historical and humanitarian heritage.

Shaikha Mai pointed out that the Bahraini women, whose national day was celebrated recently under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), have proved their outstanding capabilities in various fields.

“History bears witness of Bahraini women’s leading role and imprints in the social, economic and cultural fields,” she said.

She thanked the organisers of the annual Arab Women Awards for their keenness to project to the world the civilisational image of the Arab World, amid the serious situation Arab countries are going through.

Supported by the Mayor of London, the Arab Women of the Year Awards 2015 is organised by the London Arabia magazine, in partnership with the Arab British Chamber of Commerce, London Partners and the Council of Arab Business Women (CABW).

The Arab Women of the Year Awards 2015 is a prestigious global celebration of achievement and excellence for Arab women. The awards are presented to the most outstanding female personalities and entrepreneurs of the year, as well as across selected disciplines such as: television, cinema, music, sports, science, and others.

Arab women are honoured for their achievements in various fields. Categories include Lifetime Achievement Award, Achievement in Culture and Education, Business Woman of the Year, Young TV Presenter, Achievement in Cinema, Achievement in Trade Development, Achievement in Sport, Achievement in Science, Achievement in Community Service, Achievement in Music and Achievement in Literacy.
