The Company is BEONTRA’s first client in Middle East for the B Route Development
Manama, Bahrain 11 August 2014: Bahrain Airport Company, the manager and operator of Bahrain International Airport, recently signed a deal with BEONTRA, a Lockheed Martin company, for the implementation of its cutting-edge route analysis tool B Route Development.

With air travel expected to rise 5.8% over 2014* the technology will allow BAC to calculate, analyse and present route cases to airlines, while being able to re-calculate and amend on-demand. This means ensuring that airlines are provided with the most efficient service possible, delivering high-quality route analysis.

Mohamed Yousif AlBinfalah, CEO Bahrain Airport Company commented; “We look forward to a very successful partnership with BEONTRA as we are embarking on a pioneering and ambitious journey to modernize Bahrain International Airport. I believe that it is through strategic partnerships such as this one and the industry knowledge that it brings along that we can succeed in fulfilling our vision of being a friendly and efficient airport. I am also confident in the support that BEONTRA will provide.”

B Route Development acts as a standalone application, but logically it extends the BEONTRA’s scenario planning product suite. It is based on Sabre MIDT, OAG schedule and data such as airport passenger surveys or statistics. The software is a powerful tool that allows the user to develop and build route cases in a clear, step driven process. The data is delivered in an interactive format with graphics and data grids, allowing rapid integration into PowerPoint presentations and Excel worksheets for improved analysis and collaboration.

The deal is BEONTRA’s first in the Middle East for its module B Route Development and follows the acquisition by Lockheed Martin in March this year. The company’s technology is a key part of Lockheed Martin’s vision of ‘kerb to cloud’ suite of airport technology solutions which includes the Chroma Airport Suite and Logic Suite of ramp management offerings.

Christian Roth, CEO BEONTRA said: “It is a special honour for BEONTRA to welcome Bahrain International Airport as our first client in the Middle East using B Route Development. We are all very excited to start the project and support BAC in further developing BAH’s route network. I am sure it will be a great success!”

Having started out with only 24 passengers on its first scheduled flight, Bahrain International Airport now serves over 7.3M passengers (2013). As the primary hub for Gulf Air, Bahrain International Airport is a major airport for transit traffic from Europe to the Middle East and Asia.

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision. In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services. This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
