Bahrain and Canada discuss stability in the region

Bahraini Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird discussed a range of issues relating to the Middle East and other topics of mutual interest, yesterday.

According to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Prince Salman expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for Canada’s key role in contributing to the stability of the GCC, and he emphasised the kingdom’s desire to boost relations with Canada across a variety of sectors, while working together to improve regional stability and encourage the universal application of human rights standards.

During the meeting which took place at the Canadian Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ministry, His Royal Highness also oversaw the signing of the Tax Information Exchange Agreement between the governments of Bahrain and Canada.

The agreement allows for the exchange of information related to the management and execution of national tax laws between the two countries, whilst setting out clear guidelines and procedures for the exchange of tax information.
