Bahrain signed off in style with a gold and silver double in the shot put on the concluding day of the 52nd GCC Disabled Athletics Championship in Doha yesterday.
Ahmed Abbas Meshaima claimed the gold and his teammate Hamad Al Binali the silver.
Bahrain finished the championship with 22 medals in all, four gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals.
Bahrain continued their success with Sadiq Al Shaikh claiming bronze in the 100 metres.
Bahrain’s last medal came in the women’s category when Zahra Abdulla Al Kulaibi bagged the silver in javelin throw.
Head of Bahrain delegation and vice-president of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) congratulated the winners.
Overall
He said BDSF will continue their preparations for the 2016 Paralympics Games to be held in Rio de Janerio.
Bahrain finished fifth overall while Saudi Arabia came on top with 50 medals which included 25 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze. UAE were second with 34 medals – 17 gold, seven silver and 10 bronze.
Kuwait finished third with 37 medals – eight gold, 19 silver, 10 bronze while Qatar were fourth with 20 medals – seven gold, nine silver and four bronze.
Oman finished at the bottom with four medals – two gold, one silver and one bronze.
