Amman, May11(BNA)A pan-Arab conference spotlighting sustained development goals in the Arab World concluded today in Amman, Jordan. Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi led Bahrain’s delegation to the pan-Arab event.
Queen Rania Al-Abdulla of Jordan patronised the two-day event under the slogan: “Priorities of Sustained Development Goals in the Arab Region beyond 2015”. Dr. Al-Balooshi chaired the third session which
focused the rights of the disabled on the agenda of the Arab Sustained Development beyond 2015.
The delegations discussed the Arab efforts to draw up the sustained development agenda beyond 2015. The session also spotlighted results of the high-level Arab forum on combating poverty as a basis to achieve sustained development in the Arab region.
Decent work in the Arab World, youth employment, Arab agenda for women’s employment, demographics and Arab development agenda and the mechanism of Arab sustained development also came under the spotlight.
Results of the forum will be on the agenda of the 4th meeting of the Arab Social Affairs Ministers’ Council, scheduled to start tomorrow (May12) in Amman, Jordan.
Dr. Al-Balooshi will attend the pan-Arab session which will discuss key issues, including Bahrain’s initiative on developing productive families’ projects and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The delegations will also discuss businessmen’s social responsibility and ongoing preparations ahead of the 4th Arab Economic and Social Summit, scheduled to be held in Tunisia on January 2015.
