Bahrain Attends Arab League Meeting

Cairo-May-21(BNA) Bahrain Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa today attended an urgent meeting to discuss the developments of the Syrian crisis, in the aftermath of the atrocities perpetrated in Al-Qassir .


Egyptian delegate Amro Abul-Ata chaired the session in the presence of Arab League secretary-general Dr. Nabeel Al-Arabi. The Arab representatives discussed preparations for the upcoming international conference (Geneva 2) on Syrian crisis.

The council strongly condemned all acts of violence and killing of civilians, calling upon all parties to create a favourable environment to ensure the success of ongoing efforts seeking a political settlement to the Syrian crisis.

The pan-Arab session warned against the dangerous pitfalls of direct or indirect foreign interference in the Syrian crisis which would endanger Syrian’ territorial integrity and engulf the whole volatile region.

The Arab representatives voiced their countries’ concerns over the deteriorating humanitarian situation and decided to allow the Arab and international organisations to dispatch relief aid to distressed Syrian people. The Arab representatives stressed the necessity of holding the perpetrators of human atrocities and violators of the international and human laws accountable.
