Bahrain Attends UN Meeting in Geneva

Geneva-March 6(BNA) Bahrain Permanent Representative to the UN Office and International Organizations in Geneva Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri has today attended the discussed session on handicapped people.


Addressing the session on behalf of the Arab Group, he stressed the importance of convening the annual discussion session to highlight the rights of the disabled.

He hailed the initiative of putting this year’s session under the theme “Handicapped people and work opportunities” stressing the importance of the study conducted the UN Human Rights Commissioner in this regard.

“The right to work is a basic human right stipulated in all international treaties and covenants”, Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri said, citing particularly the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol.
