Bakeries in Bahrain are being urged to reduce the salt content of their bread.

Health authorities are planning to step up efforts to cut out sodium from recipes, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

A proposal was discussed when Health Minister Sadiq Al Shehabi chaired the fourth meeting of the national committee on non-communicable chronic diseases.

The proposed plan targets traditional and modern bakeries and aims to reduce salt from 10 per cent at present to 0.5 per cent within two years. – TradeArabia News Service
