MANAMA — Bahraini authorities apprehended on Wednesday a “terrorist cell” allegedly linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Al-Arabiya News Channel reported.
According to the report, the cell was led by brothers Ali and Mohamed Fakhrawi.
Bahrain authorities detained six people, a seventh member of the cell had already fled to Iran.
This comes days after Manama expelled the Iranian envoy following the attack on the Saudi embassy and consulate in Iran.
Bahrain also announced that it was stopping all flights to and from Iran. The Civil Aviation said that based on the announcement of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Monday that it severed diplomatic relations with Iran, the national carrier, Gulf Air, and the other carriers have been directed to halt all flights from and to Iran.
It said that the national carrier would take all the necessary measures to ensure that passengers with booked flights are not affected. Most lawmakers on Tuesday morning pushed for a ban on trade, sea and air links with Iran despite calls by some MPs not to rush into such a decision
