A Bahraini court sentenced on Sunday (December 13, 2015) detainee Ahmad Al-Arab to three years in prison over charges of joining a protest, before judge Ali Al-Dhahrani punished him with an additional year in prison for clapping after the announcement of the first verdict.
On its official Twitter account, the Public Prosecution; on the other hand, said that the Fourth High Criminal Court issued a verdict today (December 13) against a terrorist suspect over acts of assault, sentencing him to only one year in prison.
However, the sentences issued against Al-Arab (18 years old) amount to more than 89 years of imprisonment. “Isn’t the regime ashamed of sentencing a child to more than 89 years in prison and depriving him of the simplest kinds of protest (clapping) by punishing him to an additional year in prison as well!,” his mother stressed.
