Manama, Nov16(BNA)An international voluntary youth programme aimed at revamping Bahrain Fort today got underway.
Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa gave the go ahead for the event.
The voluntary initiative, set to run until November21, is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.
The Paris-based United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has chosen the Good Word Society to implement the scheme which aims at revamping the iconic fort – the first Bahrain archaeological vestige to feature on the UNESCO lit of world heritage protected sites.
The initiative brings together twenty young volunteers from France, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Algeria and the UAE in addition to Bahrain.
