Bahrain honour for veteran marathon runner

A veteran marathon runner who has returned to Bahrain to raise money for children suffering from cancer was honoured by the Bahrain Road Runners (BRR).

The ceremony was held for 82-year-old James Kelly at the British Club in Adliya along with fellow runner 99s International Women Pilots Organisation former governor Yvonne Trueman.

It was also attended by BRR senior officials and
members.

Mr Kelly has been running for 37 years and has completed more than 156 half and 30 full marathons in various countries, including the UK, Norway, Holland, Malta, France and the UAE.

Defying his age, the marathon
runner still takes part in track events, but tomorrow has something special planned ‘“ a 3km walkathon to raise money for the fight against cancer.
