Bahrain Hosts the Sixth Meeting of the GCC Chairmen of State Legislatures Next …

Manama, December 1st (BNA) –GCC Chairmen of the Shura, Representatives, National and National Assembly Councils hold their periodic sixth meeting in Bahrain on Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th of December to strengthen the scope of the GCC joint Action and achieve the integration and unity between the Gulf states.
They also aim at developing the parliamentary Gulf Action in an effective institutional framework within the GCC system, and accomplish joint Gulf parliamentary objectives, unify the stances, and develop coordination and communication between GCC states.

Meanwhile, the Acting Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, President of the Organizing Committee of the meeting, Jamal Jassim Zuwayed stated that all preparations for organizing that important meeting have been completed. He also highlighted that the meeting is held annually in one of the GCC countries, indicating that the meeting’s agenda includes a number of important issues, including a review of the annual report of the President of the Fifth regular meeting for the Chairmen of the legislatures, and the related committees in the GCC states.

The meeting also discusses the annual report of the GCC General Secretariat on the march of its joint action, the report on the visit of the delegation of the Gulf legislative councils under the chairmanship of the Saudi Shura Council’s Chairman to the European Parliament, during the period of 19 – 20 September 2012.

“During the meeting, they will discuss UAE Federal National Council’s memorandum on the evaluation of the process of the regular meeting of Chairmen of the Legislative councils, and the Parliamentary Coordinating and Foreign Relations Committee,” Zuwayed added.

They will also discuss the memorandum of the Shura and Representatives Councils in Bahrain, coordinating the foreign media policy of the legislative councils, and strengthening relations with human rights organizations, UAE Federal National Council’s memorandum on the establishment of a Gulf parliamentary information network, in addition to a number of issues.
