The “terrorist blast” took place on Thursday evening and targeted the Khamis Police Station, the ministry informed early on Friday.

The ministry added that the attack did not result in any casualties or injuries.

A police investigation into the attack is underway, Sputnik reported.

Bahrain has been witnessing almost daily protests since mid-February 2011 against the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty as uprisings began in the Middle East,   with security forces in the Persian Gulf country using heavy-handed measures to crack down on protesters.

Scores of Bahrainis have been killed and hundreds of others injured and arrested in the ongoing crackdown on the peaceful demonstrations.
