Manama, July 22nd (BNA) –The Drug Abuse Resistance Education Organization (D.A.R.E) praised in its 26th Conference held in Ohio, U.S. the role of Kingdom of Bahrain in the application of the new curriculum for the Elementary Level (First Cycle) to be the first country in the world to do that.
This was during the reception of Director of programme “Ma’an,” and the head of the Bahraini delegation participating in the closing ceremony for the conference, Ali Ahmed Amini for the new curriculum for the Elementary Level (First Cycle) from the Vice-President for the Foreign Affairs of D.A.R.E, in the presence of the countries implementing the programme.
The most important changes updated in the new curriculum are the change of the form of the flash cards, and integrating the parents homework, of which through it the parents participate with their children in answering their homework to reinforce the information the student receives at school. The new changes in the curriculum also consolidate the utmost benefit, as well as adding the lesson “The Good Citizen,” to strengthen citizenship for students and develop the national spirit and their duties towards their homeland and society.
In line with the directives of the Chairman of the Committee for Combating Violence and Addiction, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the new curriculum will be Arabized and Bahrainised to be consistent with our Islamic customs and traditions, and to prepare new workbooks congruent with the new curriculum by specialists of programme “Ma’an.” The new curriculum will also be applied in Kingdom of Bahrain’s schools starting from the first semester of the academic year 2013 – 2014, and thus Bahrain becomes the first country in the world to apply such curriculum.
