Bahrain looks at routes for GCC railway project

Bahrain has commenced a study to review possible routes in the country for the railway project between Gulf countries.
Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa commissioned on Monday the Ministries of Transportation and Works to study the possible options of the itinerary of the project. Shaikh Khalid described the GCC railway as one of the pioneering development projects that the six GCC countries are keen to implement and finalise according to the pre-set schedule, in line with the directives of GCC wise leaderships.
He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to the project, adding that the relevant teams have been instructed to prepare a clear work plan and schedule. He highlighted the social outcomes of the projects, explaining it will facilitate GCC citizens’ mobility and save their time and effort, foster GCC unity and bring about immense economic benefits.
