Over 30 students graduated from a program that included on-job training, ATC supervisory, Aerodrome, and Area courses. Amongst the graduates are two Bahraini Air Traffic Controllers which have now qualified as instructors and now have the skill-set and training to assume supervisory roles in the future.

The minister said: “We are very proud to have such a highly qualified cadre of Bahraini professionals that are keen in pursuing international certifications and standards that serve in further elevating Bahrain’s status as a key player in the global aviation industry and we look forward to having more Bahraini students on-board in the upcoming years.”

In previous visits, the minister took a tour of the established Air Traffic Control (ATC) training facility and praised GAA for having set up a fully dedicated ATC Training Center in Bahrain. Gulf Aviation Academy has launched the Air Traffic Control Training Center in mid-2014 and served over 270 students that have completed different courses till date. Being the first of its kind in Bahrain, the ATC Training Center offers a comprehensive program catering to both military and civilian Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs). The courses are among the most competitive in terms of both quality and cost in comparison to other centres in the region.

Having all the required ATC training for Bahrain conducted in the centre as well as a growing customer base from Kuwait and Qatar, the Academy aims to introduce more simulators in the near future.

Captain Dhaffer Al Abbasi, chief executive officer of Gulf Aviation Academy, said: “Having a state of the art 3D Tower Simulator and an ATC Approach and Area Simulator in our facilitates serves towards achieving our objective of covering all aviation training needs for the region.” Reiterating on the Minister’s speech, Captain Al Abbasi also stated “With the vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain having a leading role in the various aviation segments in the region, GAA has placed a challenge on itself  to find effective solutions for the aviation training needed in the coming years with clients and airlines in the region.”
