Manama, May 15 (BNA) – Assistant Undersecretary for Exits, Research and Follow up (ERF), Brigadier Youssef bin Ahmed Al Ghatam, led Bahrain’s delegation to take part in the 16th Conference of Heads of Arab Immigration, Passports and naturalization Departments, held in Tunisia on 14-15 May 2014.
The Conference discussed items on its agenda and the study submitted by Bahrain’s delegation on the role of immigration and passports agencies in combating trafficking in persons and illegal migration.
The Kingdom of Bahrain has attached great importance in combating human trafficking, whereas Bahrain’s government issued Law No. 1 of 2008 regarding fighting human trafficking, and ordered to establish a specialized department at the General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science concerned with human trafficking cases, in addition to sheltering victims of human trafficking in the Ministry of social development’s shelter house.
Bahrain’s delegation comprises Exits Director, Shawqi Mohammad Al-Subai’ee, and Nationality Director, Issa Abdulla Turki.
