Bahrain policeman arrested in connection with video of injured protester

MANAMA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) — Bahrain’s Special Investigation Unit announced Thursday the arrest of a policeman in connection with a video that shows a protester sustaining head injury near a police vehicle.

The unit that is affiliated to the Public Prosecution and is dedicated to cases against police personnel highlighted through its twitter account that the policeman was charged with harming the safety of other.

It also highlighted that investigation will continue and urged those with information to approach the unit.

The video shows a man, not yet identified, carrying the photo of opposition leader Ali Salman approaching a police vehicle and then he was shot at on the face.

The arrest of Ali Salman last month led to daily protests and violence demanding his release. He will be tried at court on January 28 with charges including violence incitement.
