Bahrain Polytechnic Game Jam Will Showcase Bahrain and GCC Emerging …

Have you ever heard about Game Jams?  The principle is
simple: teams of 2 to 4 young developers and designers, with a
passion for games, join a competition: they come with their
computers and software, their creativity and their skills; they get
given a theme and they have 48 to 72 non-stop hours to develop a
game concept, including a story line, graphics and, of course, the
gameplay that will get gamers to run, jump, fight, shoot, hide and
more for hours and days.

A Global Game Jam happens every year, ran simultaneously in
several countries, and gathering 17,000 participants globally.

Bahrain Polytechnic, in partnership with Red Stallion
Interactive / Get Games Middle East and InfiniteWare / Bahrain Game
Developers, are hosting their first
GCC Game Jam from Thursday 21st to Saturday
23rd
.

Bahrain Hall, the brand new exhibition building inside Bahrain
Polytechnic campus, will welcome approximately 15 teams and 60+
developers on Thursday morning, and at noon, they will be given the
theme of the competition: one word that shall inspire them a
concept, a story, some graphics and become a game… On Thursday at
2 PM, they will stop all development, and from 3 to 6 PM, each team
will give a short demo and presentation of their game in front of a
professional jury.

Bahrain Polytechnic and his partners have invited an
international professional jury, representing the various facets of
the gaming industry:

·         Mr Andy
Payne, Mastertronic CEO, is a gaming industry veteran, with
activities in PC and console games publishing, mobile games
publishing and simulation software.

·         Mr
Georg Backer has a 15-year track record in the gaming industry,
where he has evolved from development to production on some major
titles.

·         Mr
Hamad Al Hasan, a Bahraini national, is a seasoned game developer,
who has worked for several studios in the USA, Europe and the
Middle East.

Whether you are a keen gamer, a technology fan, have children
interested in game development, or simply want to see young
emerging talent in the region,
please join us from 3 PM to 6 PM on Saturday at Bahrain
Polytechnic campus in Isa Town to witness the early steps of
developers and games that might make it big in the
future…
