Manama, Dec. 13. (BNA) — The flag of the Kingdom of Bahrain fluttered with pride yesterday as the country’s biggest National Day celebration – the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) National Day Festival – began at “the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East.”
The inaugural BIC National Day Festival is being held under the patronage of His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and will continue from 4pm to 10pm daily until next Tuesday at “the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East.”
The entertainment extravaganza was officially opened yesterday by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, son of His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, His Highness Shaikh Abdulla.
Also on hand at the inauguration were Minister of State for Information Affairs Her Excellency Sameera Rajab, BIC Chairman of the Board His Excellency Zayed R Alzayani, and BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Visitors turned up in numbers yesterday and enjoyed several activities that comprised the first day of the festival, including fun carnival games, jumping castles, electric trains, carousels, henna, kiddie rides, balloon twisters, and comedy from popular roaming mascots. Food and beverage booths, and stalls aimed at older guests also featured at the festival which is the Kingdom of Bahrain’s biggest and most captivating celebration of national pride.
Guests enjoyed thrilling live performances by the Bahraini Ardha band, an exciting exhibition by the 150 members of the Bahrain Bikers Club, and music from the Filipino community band, rock band Motor Militia and the KMCC Kolkkali Indian band. Machine Gun Geezer, Al Rowai, Turki and Majaz meanwhile, showed the crowd what they were made of when they participated in the music competition.
The festivities will continue today when the Bahraini Lewa band welcomes guests from 4pm onwards, performing traditional Bahraini music in keeping with the festival’s theme of national pride.
An assortment of booths will feature in the BIC Vending Area with an array of attractions to delight the entire family. Carnival games, food and refreshment stalls, booths selling toys, jewellery, garments, foodstuff, games, and other items will all feature. Engaging children’s entertainment, and a list of other surprises are also on the cards at the event which should not be missed.
Tickets to the BIC National Day Festival cost 500 fils each and will be available at the gate for each of the five days.
