–> Clashes erupted Sunday between Bahraini police and anti-government protesters near the capital Manama following the funeral for a child who died due to injury suffered at an earlier protest.
Hundreds of angry demonstrators marched to Lulu Roundabout – the epicentre of pro-reform rallies in 2011 – following the funeral of eight-year-old Qassim Habib Marzooq, who had died in hospital Saturday night. Activists said online that several protesters were arrested while others were injured.
Marzooq, a child with special needs, was admitted into hospital on January 19 with breathing problem attributed to tear gas fired by police at earlier clashes with protesters in the area of Karbabad, a suburb of Manama.
