Manama, Oct. 11 (BNA)— Bahrain has ranked first in ICT Development Index, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)report.
The report has revealed Bahrain’s remarkable progress in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) field, in terms of value, jumping from the 45th rank internationally in 2010 to the 40th in 2011, out of 155 countries covered by the report.
Bahrain also occupied 15th place internationally in terms of price competitiveness.
According to the annual report, Bahrain has topped the GCC and Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa, ranking second regionally. It obtained its advanced rating this year after getting 5.85 points in 2011, compared to 5.19 points in 2010.
Consequently, Bahrain took up 5th place internationally, in terms of change, according to the index rating in 2010-2011 and the 8th place in positive change according to ICT Index in one year.
