BAHRAIN has succeeded in overcoming the 2011 crisis thanks to the reform project which was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad a decade before the so-called Arab Spring.
‘The people of Bahrain approved the National Action Charter by a sweeping majority, turning the blueprint into a roadmap for political, economic, social, cultural and educational reforms,’ Minister of State for Information Affairs and the government’s official spokesperson Sameera Rajab said.
She was addressing a forum themed ‘Arabs Tomorrow: Hopes and Outcome’ as part of Aseelah International Cultural Forum in Morocco. She cited particularly the 2013 constitutional reforms which heralded Bahrain on the firm path of democracy.
She thanked organisers for choosing Bahrain as the guest of honour for the 2014 edition.
Addressing the symposium, she raised key issues relating to political and intellectual momentum in the aftermath of developments in some Arab countries.
She underscored the importance of continuous reform and development, being the beating heart for any society and the cornerstone and essential guarantor for a sustainable nation.
