The Bahraini regime has deployed its forces to block streets leading to the funeral procession of Abdulazziz Alabbar in Sanabis, west of Manama.
The 27 year old was shot to the head by security forces back in February. He then died of his injuries on 18th April 2014. But the Bahraini authorities remained stubborn since then refusing to issue a death certificate mentioning that his death was due to being shot at to the head, in attempt to protect those involved in the crime, within a systematic official policy of impunity. On the other hand, the family of the martyr refused the faked death certificate they had received upon his death. A new death certificate has been issued mentioning the real reason of Abdulazziz’s death, more than 75 days after his death.
The regime tends to tighten on funeral processions of its victims. This behavior has become a usual occurrence in the death cases of which the regime is involved in.
More than 130 Bahrainis were killed by the regime over the past 3 years since the eruption of the wide pro-democracy movement in the country. The killers of these citizens have not been brought to justice. In the few cases where the killers were prosecuted, they were given very light sentences while some others were acquitted by the Bahraini judiciary.
