Manama, Bahrain – The organisers of Milipol Qatar – the region’s most influential trade exhibition dedicated to internal State security – are girding themselves in preparation for the upcoming international trade show, ‘Milipol Qatar 2014’.
The event which is to be held from 20 – 22 October 2014, at the Doha Exhibition Centre will be the tenth edition of Milipol Qatar, and will be the leading showcase in the Arab world for the latest innovations in equipment, technology solutions and innovations for professionals in internal security. It has also become a forum for exchange between industry professionals from around the world, especially the Middle East, the Near East and Asia.
The Middle East has become one of the world’s most dynamic security markets. In 2012, it grew 12% to a value of €16 billion, compared to an average of 5.5% growth in overall spending worldwide, according to a survey by trade publisher ‘En Toute Sécurité’.
Rapid economic developments leading to the creation of modern infrastructure and recurrent instability have called for major security projects, which are a feature of the region -protection of borders, oil fields, strategic buildings etc. These projects require cutting edge, innovative technological solutions.
Strong global participation is expected, as large organisations as well as small to medium-sized companies that wish to sell their security products and services to governments and organizations, have already begun registering. While a significant number of participation comes from Europe and the US, operators from the region are expanding rapidly too. There has been strong GCC-based representation for previous Milipol Qatar events from Bahrain, KSA, the UAE, Kuwait and Oman, as well as from Jordan and hosts – Qatar.
This year Janada Electronics from Bahrain will be among the exhibitors from the GCC. The company which deals with defence, safety security consultancy and project management, offers a wide range of products ranging from communication to weapon systems and security solutions and services.
After a successful Milipol Qatar 2012, which included 224 exhibitors from 39 countries, occupying more than 5,400 sq. metres of floor space (up 19 % from 2010), further increase in participation is expected in the upcoming exhibition.
“The challenges and requirements of the high-tech, modern world are rapidly changing, which means the demands on the security needs are evolving too. The new technologies that are required to keep pace with such demands in security will certainly be key issues under discussion. Moreover, as the region’s premier security event, the product and service index offered this year will be updated to better reflect current market trends”, said Muriel Kafantaris, Exhibition Director – Milipol Qatar 2014.
The Ministry of Interior, Qatar is inviting senior officials from ministries of interior and defence, as well as decision makers and professionals in the field of public and industrial security, from the whole region to attend the exhibition.
The various departments of the Ministry of Interior of Qatar will also be present with their own stands including the Police Force, Civil Defence, Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya), Coast Guard, Border Department, Customs and Ports General Authority, as well as the Qatar Armed Forces.
