Professional Liability Insurance Seminar

The Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) is organising the Professional Liability Insurance Seminar in association with the Arab General Federation for Insurance on October 21 and 22.

The two-days’ seminar will be organised with participation of more than 300 insurance business leaders and operators of insurance and re-insurance firms from the GCC and Arab countries that are members of the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) and from North Africa.

The seminar will discuss the region’s needs and requirements for professional liability insurance and its definition.

 

Al Areen Palace Spa’s Ramadan fashion 2013

Al Areen Palace Spa successfully held a three-day Ramadan fashion event at the hotel’s Nadwah ballroom.

The event kicked off with a two-day Fashion Bazaar Exhibition on July 24 and 25 which included beautifully designed jalabiyats, abayas, men children clothing and  other fashion accessories right in time for Eid shopping. The event culminated on July 26 with a sumptuous food prepared for the traditional Ghabgha a fashion show  that showcased exquisite creations by several young talented designers such as Signs of Shaikha, Rajhar, Apachi Royal Couture.

“Al Areen Palace Spa takes pride in hosting such events as the hotel is known for its luxurious fashionable architecture and world class amenities. Likewise, it is also our goal to provide a platform for these young and talented designers, giving them more exposure to show off their stunning creations,“ said Cristina Fulgencio, senior PR marketing manager.

 

Asry to focus on making dry dock more productive

The CEO of Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) Chris Potter has asserted that Asry’s strategy focuses on promoting the capacities of the dry dock, which have been developed in the framework of the expansion programme, to be more effective and productive.

Asry’s CEO also said that reorganising the trade operations will establish more independent and profitable centres through setting the company in a position, which enables it to seize potential revenue opportunities, and turning the site of the company from a shipyard to repair the ships to an integrated complex for the marine services that is able to achieve the desired success along the coming years.

Asry’s CEO said that during 2012, the company was able to achieve a slight increase in sales amounted to 5.23 per cent compared to 2011 despite the market volatility as a result of the policy of diversification of income sources pursued by the company. He said that the diversification is considered an important factor in the company’s income to maintain a certain level of revenues, pointing out that the Department of Marine Services forms the main backbone of the income, where it contributed with about 44 per cent of last year’s income 2012, which strongly indicates that Asry has become the destination of the various marine services.

The CEO pointed out that Asry also cares about training its staff and developing their capabilities, where it established a partnership with Tamkeen, and the National Institute for Industrial Training to train 50 graduate of the Vocational Secondary Schools with a cost of 3.8 million dollars along the next three years.
