Moscow, Dec.14 (BNA) : The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met with the Vice-Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Ilyas Umakhanov, as part of his official visit to the Russian Federation, where he discussed the outstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation and the means of bolstering relations in all fields, particularly in the political, economic, cultural and security fields, in addition to the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

The minister expressed his appreciation to the strong ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, affirming the Kingdom’s keenness to bolster these relations for the benefit of the two countries and their people, highlighting the importance of the exchange of visits between officials from the two countries for further cooperation and to bolster joint interests.

Umakhanov praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his keenness to bolster relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, as well as the important role of the Kingdom at the regional and international levels.

He affirmed the support of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain in various stances and its keenness to develop fields of cooperation, in addition to praising the democratic model of the Kingdom of Bahrain and wishing Bahrain’s King, government and people further development and prosperity.

The two sides stressed that terrorism was a serious threat to security, stability and hinders the development efforts in all countries of the world, without exception, stressing the need to continue the war against terrorism in all its forms and unite the international community’s efforts in the face of this serious phenomenon, to ensure uprooting this scourge from the root and the removal of all causes and elimination of Al Daash terrorist organization and other extremist and terrorist groups, and dry up the sources of terrorism.

The minister had earlier arrived in the capital of the Russian Federation, Moscow, where he is on an official visit to meet with a number of senior official and sign a number of agreements, in line with supporting relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation in various fields.
