Bahrain: Shaikh Khalid receives invitation

First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa received an invitation from the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Crith Brown for Bahrain to participate in the First European Open MMA Championship for Amateur which will be held in Birmingham from November 19 to 22.

The event is being organised by IMMAF in cooperation with the UK Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF).

Shaikh Khalid directed the Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial (KHK MMA) Amateur Team to participate in this championship. He said that Bahrain’s attendance will highlight Bahrain’s significant position on the world sports map.

Shaikh Khalid said that this tournament,  which will be held for the first time at the level of European countries amateur fighters, comes within the framework IMMAF in spreading the culture of this sport, stressing the keenness of Bahrain to participate for the success of this global event.

The IMMAF’s weight categories for this tournament are the flyweight (56.7kg), heavyweight (115kg), and the light weight for women (70.3kg).
