Bahrain shiprepairer helps IMO’s security work

The event, attended by IMO secretary-general Koji Sekimizu included site visits to key maritime locations in Bahrain. One visit was to the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY), where Mr Sekimizu received a cheque for $50,000, as a contribution from ASRY to IMO’s maritime security activities. The cheque was presented by Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, chairman of ASRY, who requested that the fund should be used for IMO’s projects addressing piracy off the coast of Somalia and in the Indian Ocean.
