Bahrain State Information Minister Highlights Media Strides

MOSCOW, Nov 1 (Bernama) — Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson Sameera Ebrahim bin Rajab hosted a reception here on the sidelines of her current visit to Russia, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Addressing the reception, she highlighted Bahrain’s media and press freedom and openness thanks to the reform project which was initiated by the King.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing tangible media strides on the path to consolidating the freedom of opinion and expression and developing professional media competence,” she said at the event which was also attended by Russian journalists.

She outlined Bahrain’s political developments and wide-ranging achievements, highlighting ongoing preparations in the run-up to the parliamentary and municipal elections-2014.

The minister stressed on preparations to cover the upcoming crucial polls, outlining a package of programmes which would project Bahrain’s media image and contribute to the success of the parliamentary and municipal elections, being a defining national event in the march of the reform and democratic process.

The minister invited journalists from all countries to visit Bahrain and cover the elections and get update on landmark national achievements as well as the country’s successes in all fields and sectors.
