Bahrain to host IronMan’s triathlon on Saturday

Manama, Dec. 3 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), affirmed all procedures almost finalized ahead of launching IronMan’s race which is the last leg in the triple crown Triathlon tournament on Saturday, Dec. 5.
His Highness expected the competition to be strong and to witness the birth of new champs from Bahrain which will confirm the Kingdom’s place as the home of triathlon sports in the Middle East.

The event will see large crowds of spectators and fans who will show up to applause the swimming, bicycling and jogging competition performed by more than 1100 athletes from all over the world, including celebrity triathletes and Bahraini aspirants.

His Highness said the championship will be broadcast by Bahrain TV live on air to viewers around the world, citing the presence of international media representatives.

His Highness said instructions had been issued not to close down any streets on the route of the race to avoid any damage to the interest of citizens and residents to ensure normal everyday public life is not disrupted.

Only one lane will be reserved for the athletes to use which will be opened for citizens and residents as soon as the athletes pass to resume their daily chores within not more than four hours.
