Manama, Jan. 8 (BNA)— Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain is set to host the meetings of the Union of Arab Courts and Constitutional Councils from March 17 to 20.
Bahrain acceded to the union in December 2003, alongside twelve countries which currently constitute it.
The Union of Arab Courts and Constitutional Councils aims to consolidate ties of brotherhood and friendship among its members, boost the concept of constitutional judiciary in the Arab World, promote monitoring of the constitutionality of laws in protecting rights and general freedoms and facilitate the exchange of constitutional knowledge among specialists in constitutional control.
In preparation for the meetings, President of the Constitutional Court Salem bin Mohammed Al Kuwari received President of The Union of Arab Courts and Constitutional Councils and Vice President of Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court Dr. Hanafi Ali Jebali as well as the committee formed by Bahrain Constitutional Court, headed by the court’s Secretary General Judge Saeed Abdullah Al Hamidi.
