Bahrain to investigate reports of US regime-change plan in MENA

MANAMA, June 15(Xinhua) — Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah on Sunday ordered to look into a report that revealed a U. S. government’s pro-active campaign for regime change throughout the Middle East and North Africa region, according to Bahrain News Agency.

About a week ago weekly publication Middle East Briefing revealed a five-page report of “secret” U.S. foreign policies to support the Muslim Brotherhood and other rebellious movements in the region since 2010. The report said that some individuals and institutions had received assistance to be trained outside the country.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said last week that it was studying the U.S. State Department document that talked about possible attempts to unseat governments in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Egypt to determine if any legal violation has occurred.

According to the report, the document, which was issued in October 2010, contains a detailed structure of U.S. government programs in directly building “civil society” organizations to alter the internal politics of the targeted countries in favor of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives.
