Bahrain’s deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has said that his country will shortly launch power and water projects worth US$2.24bn to benifit from a US$10bn aid package approved approved by other members of the GCC three years ago.

“Bahrain is in the process of launching projects worth nearly $2.24 billion to be financed through the GCC aid programme,” Al Khalifa was quoted as saying.

It was recently reported that expatriates in Bahrain might have to pay unsubsidised electricity and water bills if negotiations between legislators and the government pan out.
