Bahrain to rebuild old residential areas – Al

The Bahraini government on Sunday (May 19th) announced the launch of a large-scale national project to reconstruct old residential areas in the country, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported Monday (May 20th).

According to a government statement, the cabinet on Sunday approved a project to rebuild and develop old residential areas and provide basic services for them.

In its first stage, the project will target 10 residential areas in al-Isa, Umm al-Hasm, al-Basitin, al-Sanabis, and al-Hidd cities, which will be rebuilt using distinguished architectural designs.

The project, which will run until 2018, also will provide 4,000 residential units in those cities, the statement said.

The initiative is part of a government plan to rehabilitate buildings and old residential areas.
