Bahrain University and Transport Ministry launch award

Manama, June17(BNA)The University of Bahrain has today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Transportation to promote scientific cooperation and support the academic programmes at the college of Engineering.

UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi sealed the deal with Undersecretary for land Transport and Post Mariam Ahmed Jamaan on behalf of Transportation Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.
The two sides have also agreed to launch an annual award to support the College of Engineering students and hone their creative skills.

The “Transportation Ministry Award for Creative Systems” aims also at linking engineering students with the real needs and ensuring the necessary practical expertise to integrate in the labour market successfully. A total of 100 engineering students are taking part in the first edition of the award to design a station under the projected the GCC railways project.

In a statement today, UoB President Dr. Janahi expressed at signing the memorandum of understanding to bolster joint cooperation regarding technical consultancies and training schemes. Undersecretary for land Transport and Post Mariam Ahmed Jamaan said that the annual award would support the efforts of the university to ensure an outstanding generations of creative engineers who will contribute to building Bahrain’s bright future.
